Danny, Margie and I arrived in Amman, Jordan and travelled to the Dead Sea Movenpick Resort. Spent 5 days and nights relaxing, swimming in the pools and the Dead Sea and enjoying the beauty - Israel directly across from us - view from our patio.Danny and Margie covering in Dead Sea mud!Off to Petra and Wadi Rum for 2 days and 1 night....Petra is a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1985. It is also one of the new 7 Wonders of the World!Chatted with Marguerite VanGeldermalsen, a New Zealand RN who visited Petra and ended up staying and marrying a Bedoiun. She and her husband lived in one of the caves, she wrote the book Married to a Bedoiun about her adventure. She now lives in the nearby village and sells this jewellery in the park, her husband has passed. All three of us travelled back to the Treasury on camel back. Danny got there before us so had already gotten off the camel he rode back on.Left Petra to head to Wadi Rum in time for the sunset, had to stop to let these camels cross the road!Hopped in a jeep to drive out into the desert for the sunset.Amazing valley, people riding out to catch the rose coloured sunset...The sun is setting and the moon is rising...Bedouin camps for those who choose to camp out in the desert.Had dinner in Wadi Rum then back to Petra for the night. Day 2 at Petra, rode donkeys part way up the 800+ steps to the monastery...Margie and I having a break in a cave before we start the trek down!Step # 555 ... almost there!A cold beer and lunch in Petra before heading to the airport and back to Doha!
